Mary Quant

Victoria and Albert Museum dedicates the first international retrospective to the iconic fashion designer Mary Quant, gathering more than 120 garments, alongside with accessories, cosmetics, drawing and photographies to highlight the path of the creative designer who revolutionised fashion in the sixties.
The exhibition path covers in particular the years between 1955 and 1975, when Quant become a role model for the working women, opening the way to a new age of feminism. Thanks to her creativity, accessories such as the miniskirt, colourful tights or the tailored trousers have become customary.
The exhibition features also a selection of  35 items coming from wardrobes around the country: they were selected as a result of a call-out by the museum and are now on show, along with their owners’ personal stories.
