Mary Reid Kelly and Patrick Kelley: Rand/Goop

The artists’ first institutional exhibition in London, Mary Reid Kelley and Patrick Kelly present “Rand/Goop“, a new large-scale installation consists of six totemic video sculptures, creating a circular narrative at Studio Voltaire.

As the title implies, the contents are drawn entirely from two sources: “Rand” for Russian-American writer and philosopher Ayn Rand’s “Objectivism” philosophies; “Goop” for Gwyneth Paltrow’s modern lifestyle brand “goop“. Connecting the subjects seemingly unconnected, the artists try to reveal that Rand’s espousal of individualism soon begin to resonate with the purchasable wellness offered by goop.
