Out of Character

In 1812, John Soane imagined in one of his writings that his house would have been inhabited by four characters: a Lawyer, a Monk, a Magician and an Architect. In 2018, MUTT, namely an architecture studio founded by Graham Burn, James Crawford and Alexander Turner, with roots in London and Liverpool, has proposed a design for the four characters on the occasion of the London Design Festival 2018. The four figures look as architectural compositions of ornament, colour and form and have been installed in different corners of the museum; each of them establish a dialogue with the space it inhabits, using decorative elements to give new life to the building.
