Shana Moulton
Artist Shana Moulton has been chosen for the 2019 annual commission by Zabludowicz Collection, London, to present a new video work, alongside selected previous key pieces. Working across different media, such as installation, costume and performance, Moulton has created an imaginary world, ruled by its own logic, time and aesthetic; this realm revolves around an artist’s alter ego, named Cynthia, a peculiar character who struggles to live in the everyday world, rather seeking a getaway through her own imagination. Through Cynthia’s vicissitudes, Moulton investigates complex topics related with contemporary society, such as the relationship between spirituality and consumerism, ecological awareness or alternative models of living. The exhibition also includes the multi-channel video installation “Whispering Pines ∞”, realised in collaboration with Nick Hallett and first presented at Galerie Gregor Staiger, Zurich in 2018.
