Artist Tamu Nkiwane assembles pieces with particular materials and objects, selected form his surrounding environment. The resulting installations reference Nkiwane’s autobiographical experience, such as the street landscape of London, namely his home town, or the one of his extended family in Zimbabwe.
The exhibition at Zabludowicz Collection features sculptures representing street market stalls, with dried fruits and other objects piled up on the top. Besides them, some video clips shot by the artist during his time in Zimbabwe are played silently on monitors. The exhibition is part of the “Invites” series of exhibitions, held at the London gallery.
