Tarek Atoui: Hyundai Commission

Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall becomes a space for live experimentation with sound through a series of performances accompanying Tarek Atoui’s Hyundai Commission. Bringing together musicians working across different genres, the programme explores the relationship between sound, instruments and the surrounding installation. For the first two sessions, Atoui is joined by Emptyset, Mazen Kerbaj, Kenichi Iwasa and Aya Metwalli for improvised performances combining voice, electronics and instruments. Each session offers a different way of engaging with the installation, transforming it into an instrument, a sound system or an environment for collective listening.
