Tomás Saraceno: Webs of Life

Presented by Serpentine and Acute Art

Serpentine Galleries, Kensington Gardens, London W2 3XA, UK

Artist Tomás Saraceno conceived the project “Webs of Life” to revolve around spiders: his goal is to encourage people to move away from arachnophobia towards the love of this animal species (Arachnophilia). To do so, he created a series of Augmented Reality creatures that people from all over the world can visualise through their phones, after sending him a picture of a spider or web. Two bigger AR models have been placed outside Serpentine South Gallery until November 2021. In this way, Saraceno wants to invite his audience to reflect on the places usually inhabited by these little creatures and reconsider our relationships with them.
