Vermeir and Heiremans: A Modest Proposal (in a Black Box)

The exhibition by the Belgian duo is centred around the connections between art and economy: in collaboration with financial sector workers, lawyers and academic researchers, the two artists developed a financial model in which the value generated by artistic practices could be better distributed between all the involved stakeholders.

The model is presented on a USB stick, physically enclosed in a metal-and-lattice structure. A promotional video introduces the model and its functioning while archival materials are also presented for an historical documentation about land speculation since the Victorian era.
