Voices From Ukraine
“Voices From Ukraine” presents the crises of today’s world through the lens of a country defending itself against neo-imperial Russian aggression. Ukrainian artists highlight experiences that range from the personal impact of war to wider threats to democracy, freedom, and the environment.
The exhibition shows how conflict permeates everyday life and imagination, even for those outside the direct zone of violence. Though the war has lasted eleven years, and the full-scale invasion over three, its reality often feels remote to those beyond Ukraine. Yet its consequences touch the future of us all, where democracy and freedom can no longer be assumed.
At a time of growing authoritarian influence, art becomes both a tool for reflection and an act of resistance. The participating artists voice their experiences, fears, and hopes, demonstrating how imagination itself can sustain resilience. This is not only a story of war, but a call to responsibility—for the world we inherit and the one we continue to shape.
The exhibition in Lublin forms the main chapter of the “Voices From Ukraine” project, accompanied by parallel presentations in Zielona Góra and Wrocław, which explore borders, landscapes, and the transformation of collective identity in times of conflict.
