Karolina Markiewicz & Pascal Piron: Stronger than memory and weaker than dewdrops
Karolina Markiewicz and Pascal Piron presents "Stronger than memory and weaker than dewdrops" hosted by Casino Luxembourg
Casino de Luxembourg is hosting the exhibition “Stronger than memory and weaker than dewdrops” by Karolina Markiewicz and Pascal Piron. The exhibition brings together new works by the artistic duo and new productions about identity, otherness, the meeting of peoples and cultures and the transmission of stories, in a changing world.
The title of the exhibition takes its name from the poem “If I Were Another” by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish (1941-2008) and blends reality and mythology, politics and poetry in an articulated space, divided between constraint and freedom.
The exhibition is occasionally accompanied by an actor who wanders around the space and recites the Palestinian poet’s poems, attempting to make eye contact with the viewer and initiate a dialogue with them.
Since 2013, Karolina Markiewicz and Pascal Piron have developed a collaborative body of work that spans film, visual arts, and theater. At the center is the individual as part of the human community, torn between resignation and hope. In their poetic investigations, the two artists question contemporary myths and construct metaphorical narratives based on past events.
