Amina Benbouchta: (M)eta(M)orphosis

Sabrina Amrani, Calle de la Madera 23, Madrid, Spain

Metamorphosis is a word of Greek origin, made by the prefix méta “then, beyond, with” and morphé “form”. It transforms an item, an object, a person or an animal from one state to another.

Through game of transversality between different issues that shape the evolution of the life cycle, Amina Benbouchta studies this universal theme in the world around us. Using her own experience, and that of human beings in general and women in particular, the artist explores the phenomenon that governs our existence. Her works seek to model what is not in the order of form, making visible what is beyond the visible and its modalities. The artist appeals to the thought, imagination and affection of the viewer to lead them into an intimate exploration.
