Jon Rafman: Tu, el Mundo y yo

La Casa Encendida, Ronda de Valencia, 2

La Casa Encendida hosts Jon Rafman‘s exhibition “Tu, el Mundo y yo“, the fourth episode of “An Involuntary Trace” a series of solo shows investigating the footprints we unintentionally leave in the world.

Tu, el Mundo y yo” takes the form of a two-part installation that explores the digital trace left by random and automatic images that are constantly generated.

Rafman’s work examines the relationship between technology and users and its implications for the modern human experience.
The artist explores the infinite capacity of the digital world, where nothing disappears, and every interaction leaves a trace in its wake.

On show are the two pieces “Nine Eyes of Google Street View“, an ongoing archival project with selected images extracted from the browser, and a video with the same title as the exhibition, made in 2010, which explores the impossibility of remembering someone when you don’t have pictures of them and the vulnerability of any digital image you may have, given the risk of it disappearing forever.
