Marcel Dzama: Ya es hora
On the occasion of his third solo show with the gallery, Marcel Dzama (Winnipeg, Canada, 1974) is warning about the times we live in. The concept of the exhibition is connected to the theoretical, political and social principles developed by the dada movement conceived by Francis Picabia and Tristan Tzara – among others – as a reaction to World War I and Francisco de Goya’s Disasters of War, which reflect the cruelty of the Spanish war of Independence.
In these works, Dzama exhibits an opposition against conservative political movements that have gained an increasing presence in the current political scene in the United States and worldwide. Part of the works presented at the gallery rebel against sexism, intolerance, racism, homophobia and the ignorance inherent to contemporary society.
