Pakui Hardware: The Burn

“The Burn,” at carlier | gebauer gallery in Madrid, is an exhibition presenting two new series of sculptures by Pakui Hardware, the artist duo chosen to represent Lithuania at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.

“Inflammation” and “Heat Treated,” their latest series of works from 2023, explore the relationship between contemporary technology, economy, and bodily transformations. Pakui Hardware’s recent research focuses on contemporary medicine and its diverse ways of altering, monitoring, and fragmenting bodies.

In this exhibition, the duo merges human and vegetal bodies, politics and medicine, employing their unique aesthetics, wide theoretical network, and material experiments to create once again unexpected ecosystems.
