Richard Learoyd

The solo exhibition in Madrid features a selection of pictures representative of the artist's career and signature style

Fundación MAPFRE, Paseo de Recoletos 23

Today one of the most well-known contemporary photographers, Richard Learoyd works across colour and black-and-white photography, referencing the history of painting through the chosen subjects and techniques. Although his portraits shot in the studio are among his most recognizable pictures, he also explored other themes, such as landscape, still life and abstract photography, through compositions made of dark mirrors.

This monographic exhibition retraces his professional path from the peak of his career, gathering a selection of fifty-one key photographs, both in colour and black-and-white. Among them, also a black-and-white landscape picture, taken in Spain under MAPFRE Foundation’s commission.
