Charlotte vander Borght: Gold of grass, Lead of sky
Charlotte vander Borght’s work highlights the invisible connections that bind all forms of life, weaving a thread between the living and the inanimate. Her exhibition delves into this interplay with an uncanny sensibility, reflecting the processes of nature and the transformative journey of life itself.
As Emanuele Coccia explains in his book Metamorphosis: “We are all fascinated by the mystery of metamorphosis—the caterpillar that transforms itself into a butterfly. Their bodies have almost nothing in common. They don’t share the same world: one crawls on the ground while the other flutters its wings in the air. And yet, they are one and the same life.”
The notion of transformation, embodied in the constant flow of exchange in our contemporary world—often elusive to the eye—is central to her work. Vander Borght examines and illuminates it with a fragile yet violent subtlety.
In her exhibition “Gold of Grass, Lead of Sky”, this dynamic tension emerges through the juxtaposition of sculptures and photographs. Vander Borght’s vision transforms the gallery into a space where boundaries blur and the familiar assumes an otherworldly dimension.
