The collective exhibition is the result of an original initiative, carried out by the internal workers of the Museo de Arte Moderno – MAM, who perform daily tasks in order to welcome visitors of the institution and make possible its operational functioning. This collective effort results in a selection of 42 works, made between 1919 and 2007. Paintings, photographs, sculptural objects, drawings and heliographic impressions are grouped in four thematic sections, reflecting recurrent themes in Mexican art history. “Colección Abierta. Somos Museo (Open Collection. We Are Museum)” joins together more and less famous pieces and reveals the real face of the museum through those who make its operations possible: those who clean the rooms, record the entrances and exits of the works, perform administrative tasks, guard the exhibitions, among many other activities within a long chain of mechanisms that allow to preserve and disseminate the artistic heritage.
