Contemporary Parallels: Cartographies of the Territory

Oscar Román, Julio Verne 14, Polanco

The group exhibition proposes a reinterpretation of the Mexican landscape as a multifaceted, symbolic, and constantly evolving territory. Through a selection of works in painting, sculpture, and new media, the exhibition brings together contemporary voices that explore the territory from aesthetic, critical, and affective perspectives. Presenting works by Gilda Medina, Krysia González, Daniel Martínez, Daniel Azuara, Emmanuel Rodríguez Mazon, Rubén Morales Lara, Gabriela González Leal, among others, “Contemporary Parallels” fragments and expands the concept of landscape. The works function as parallel lines that converse without intersecting, tracing their own cartographies that question how we see, inhabit, and represent our environment. Some pieces delve into the imprint of human intervention on nature; others evoke geographical memories, displacements, or imagined territories. The exhibition invites the public to explore these visual narratives as if traversing an emotional map of contemporary Mexico, somewhere between the historical and the poetic, the political and the sensitive.
