Cristina Umaña: Coffee Table

In this exhibition curated by Andrea Bustillos Duhart, Cristina Umaña (Colombia, 1993) uses drawing, installation, and textiles to create a setting in which objects appear as silent witnesses to conversations, celebrations, and grief—mute actors that feed on their surroundings. The installation, composed of several coffee tables, represents a living being, an imaginary character whose body supports a bouquet at its highest point. Here, everything that unsettles condenses into a body suspended in time. The table becomes an animal frozen in the room, a dog that is both dog and table, and the room turns into a stage and a farce.
