¿Dónde está el diseño italiano?
“¿Dónde está el diseño italiano? (Where is the Italian Design?)” highlights the history of Italian design through a selection of around 170 objects, such as publications, toys, furniture and appliances among others, from the private collection of Italo Rota and Alessandro Pedretti. The selection of items underlines how Italian design has always reflected the social, political and cultural events faced by the country: for example, objects dating to the Second World War mirror the lack or shortage of materials and the necessity to innovate the industry with the use of new inputs. The objects on view, ranging from the iconic box of Coccoina glue (1923) to the Olivetti MP1 typewriter (1932), highlights also the main focus of Italian design, lying firstly in enjoyment and then in functionality.
