El Movimiento No Está en la Pantalla

Soma, Calle 13, No. 25. Colonia San Pedro de los Pinos

The movement is not on the screen is an exercise in conflict. A random group of artists who were accompanied for two years in a process of growth, research and perhaps even cannibalization. The process served to assess how to proceed, how to act in a field that, although it is primarily symbolic, comes without doubt accompanied by a specific weight: that of the world out there. The process is also a development that documents the paradox of resisting by the very methods provided by that which is subject to resistance. SOMA provides a territory to reflect on and discuss the position that each individual takes in a field of education and production of knowledge. The participation and practice of each individual affects clearly, but also surreptitiously, each work and each research process within the group. How to opt for a resistance without declaring war? It seems that, not without a certain irony, our free and democratic societies have decided to take Siqueiros’s maxim to the letter: “There is no other route than ours” but today it is clear that there is no other option beyond resistance. How to achieve this? The movement is not on the screen is a pause in a process where the fog rises and allows to see the traces of the steps already taken and the path that looks ahead. It is a passing focus on a shadow that reveals the contours of substance and our participation to shape it.
