Emancipated Matter, Informalists in Mexico

Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil – MACG, Av. Revolucion 1608, San Ángel Delegación Álvaro Obregón

The exhibition Emancipated Matter, Informalists in Mexico at Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil aims to make evident how the most representative pictorial trends linked to the international Informalism arrived in the Mexican artistic scene and how this style of abstraction had resonances in the work of Mexican artists, as in the development of the art collections and their artistic and expositive practices. The exhibition presents through works, publications, and documents, a succession of events and expressions that manifest interesting points of contact between great creators and theorists linked to Informalism, and Mexican artists and intellectuals who, in synchrony, made works inscribed in this artistic trend.
