Gilberto Esparza: Cultivos/Cultures
Laboratorio Arte Alameda, Calle Dr Mora 7, Colonia Centro, Centro, Cuauhtémoc,
Cultures gathers three projects that make up the core of the researches that the artist Gilberto Esparza has developed during the last decade: Urban Parasites (2006 – 2008), Nomadic Plants (2008 – 2013), and Self-Photosynthetic Plants (2013 – 2014).
“Cultivos/Cultures” is an investigative project on the water issue in some cities in the world like Lima and Mexico City. This show starts a reflection on the relationship between the urban space and the aquiferous mantle and the memories of the extinct rivers.
Art, biology, engineering and robotics come together in this exhibition to show the impact that technology has on everyday life, the social relations, the environment, and the urban structure.
