Loup Sarion: Midnight, Sea of Time
The exhibition refers to a suspended moment of night when time seems to dissolve— an intense state of presence in which life feels fully lived.
Through a wide range of materials—leather, resin, glass, mirror, concrete, bronze, water, and aluminium—the works move between extreme softness and rough, crumbling textures. These surfaces echo a sensitivity to skin, touch, and exposure. Light passes through, reflects, and fragments across the sculptures, creating subtle visual dialogues that connect the works to one another.
Various viewpoints—holes, openings, and imagined windows—lead toward intimate spaces. At times, it recalls the privacy of a summer bedroom, sheltered from outside gazes; at others, the openness of a garden.
Fluidity and the presence of water run throughout the exhibition, shaping a sense of movement and emotional liquidity.
At the centre of the exhibition, a large mirror sculpture—two metres high and three metres long—cuts the space in half. Acting both as a barrier and a threshold, it divides the room while simultaneously connecting its two sides. Pierced with uneven openings, the mirror allows partial views through its surface, disrupting reflection and orientation. Bodies appear fragmented, doubled, or momentarily erased, while glimpses of the other side emerge through the holes.
The work invites a choreography of looking and being looked at, transforming the mirror from a tool of self-recognition into an architecture of passage, intimacy, and exposure.
