Miguel Calderón: Caída Libre / Free Fall
“Caída Libre” (Free Fall) consists of photographs taken by Miguel Calderón during his trips and film shootings. These images offer a glimpse of the falconer’s universe. In this works, the artist explores the possibilities of connective relationships with animals that can exist beyond words.
For Calderón hawks symbolize the link between human and nature: they are the bridge between the falconer and the heavens. The objects associated to falconry are imbued with an aura of ritual despite their condition of everyday equipment. Calderón elevates them as contemporary sculpture, reconstructing them and exhibiting them out of their ordinary context.
