Monika Sosnowska at kurimanzutto

Monika Sosnowska grew up under the communist Eastern Blocin Poland , where she still lives. Looking at architecture as source material of her work, her sculpture reflect Modernist assumptions of functionality and the promise of progress represented in the constructions of 1960s and ‘70s socialist buildings from Poland she is so familiar with.
Her art revolves around social and political values embodied in our built environments, projecting into the present and the future a past era.
