Operación Peine y Tijera. Los Largos Años Sesenta en la Ciudad de México

The exhibition gathers around 200 pieces between documents, sculpture, painting, collage, printmaking, photography, film and installation and other media, which review a period in which a new imaginary of daily life in modern Mexico City was built. The pieces on view span the period which links the end of the fifties with the mid-seventies and which intersected with social movements, like the students’ mobilisation of 1968.

Operación Peine y Tijera  Los Largos Años Sesenta en la Ciudad de México (Hair Comb and Scissors Operation. The Long Sixties in Mexico City) includes expressions of diverse cultural and social spheres to offer a wide panorama of the multiple events which overflowed the established regime. It shows, in particular, the social impact of advertising on middle class in order to promote consumption and which, sometimes, led to the upsetting of traditional values.
