In 2020, the Tamayo Museum inaugurated “OTRXS MUNDXS”, a group exhibition featuring the work of over forty artists who were then working both individually and collectively in Mexico City. In 2024, the museum presents the second iteration of “OTRS MUNDS”, an experimental format that considers the museum’s infrastructure as a material for artistic inquiry. The exhibition arises from conversations about sound production and music in the museum’s resonant architecture and is organised with artists and collaborators from various disciplines who live and work within a broader national context. “OTR#S MUND#S” imagines the museum as a musical instrument through which a series of diverse interventions explore the institutional and experiential conditions of its spaces. The exhibition unfolds as a cacophonous sequence of events and encounters that reflect the current state of artistic thinking in Mexico.
