Renata Cassiano Álvarez: Sol nocturno

As part of the exhibition program during Art Week 2026, Banda Municipal presents the latest works by Mexican ceramicist Renata Cassiano (Mexico City, 1981). “Sol nocturno” explores the plastic and symbolic possibilities of obsidian, a material that historically had ritual uses in sacrifices and whose surface served as a divination mirror. Cassiano uses obsidian to explore memory, perception, and what the darkness of the smoking mirror reflects back to us.
