The Tiger’s Coat
“The Tiger’s Coat”, curated by Rodrigo Ortiz Monasterio (Guest Curator) and Carolina Estrada (Curatorial Assistant, Museo Jumex). is presented as a piece of fiction through which to explore the many questions surrounding Modotti’s life. It analyzes her relationships, her photographic work, the figures who crossed her path, and other possible points of connection.
This exhibition uses the photographs of the Casasola Archive as a starting point for its museographic and theoretical identity, creating a detective-like atmosphere. There’s no linear or chronological way to explore The Tiger’s Coat. Instead, each work functions like a puzzle piece: sometimes a theoretical link, sometimes a hypothesis, sometimes like fiction.
