Yann Gerstberger

OMR presents French artist Yann Gerstberger’s second solo exhibition. Gerstberger’s pictorial universe is constructed from images he encounters in nature, graffiti, modernist abstraction, and popular culture. He fervently collects references from the most diverse sources, building a chimerical array of bird messengers and comets, lush rainforests, failed butterfly hunters, and tropical gardens. The motifs, as hybridised as they are, can be traced back to his study of Tropicalismo, Roberto Burle Marx, Le Corbusier and Miró’s paintings, and Yoruba craftsmanship.
