Abstract/Not Abstract

“Abstract/Not Abstract” is the third thematic exhibition to be presented in the Miami Design District during Art Basel Miami Beach by Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch. The show explores contemporary approaches to abstraction in painting.  Abstract painting is one of the great innovations of modernism which continues to inspire and challenge artists. To make a fresh abstract painting today, following all the remarkable achievements of the School of Paris and New York School, is daunting and challenging. Yet through the use of varied technologies, techniques, and approaches, this generation of artists continues to make astonishing and complex work with fresh innovations of the abstract tradition. “Abstract/Not Abstract” includes work by the greatest artists working today who redefine abstraction for our time.
