Alba Triana: Dialogue with the Primordial Sea

Locust Projects presents “Dialogue with the Primordial Sea” an immersive kinetic sound installation by Alba Triana, a Miami-based, internationally acclaimed intermedia artist. Known for blending art, science, and technology, Triana reveals the unseen forces that shape the natural world and humanity’s place within it.

Part of Triana’s “Delirious Fields” Series, the site-specific installation features magnetic spheres that levitate or pendulate in response to invisible magnetic fields. Controlled by probabilistic code, the spheres exhibit individual and collective behaviors, tracing ephemeral patterns across the space. These interactions evoke self-organizing natural processes, creating a dynamic, living entity of synchronized motion and stillness. The work immerses viewers in intangible forces, bridging the realms of chance, organisation, and interconnectedness.

Commissioned as part of the Knight Digital Commissions series, the installation transforms the Project Room into a meditative space that highlights humanity’s relationship with the unseen. Selected by Locust Projects Executive Director Lorie Mertes, “Dialogue with the Primordial Sea” deepens Triana’s exploration of energy, vibration, and the origins of existence.
