Angela Glajcar: White Glass / Dirk Salz: Perception
Angela Glajcar :White Glass
Angela Glajcar is a German artist who chooses paper as her main material to sculpt, proposing dueling analyses of the everyday medium. Started in 2005, her ongoing “Terforation” series is not just on paper, but also made of paper. The title, which comes from the union of two Latin words: “terra” (earth) and “foramen” (hole), describes the geometric pure forms she constructs from standard size sheets of paper. For this exhibition the artist will present a new body of work created using glass fabric. Angela Glajcar was born in 1970 in Mainz, Germany, where she currently lives and works. She graduated in 1998 from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Nuremberg, Germany. Glajcar has created installations in public and private venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville, FL, USA; the Ritz Carlton in South Beach, Miami Beach, FL; St. Peter Kircke Station in Cologne, Germany; the cultural department of the city of Frankfurt, the museums of Ludwigshafen, Hof, and Berlin, the Papiermuseum in Steyrermuhl, the Wichtendahl Galerie in Berlin, and the Fondazione Amici di Castelbasso, Italy.
Dirk Salz: Perception
“Because in his new pictures Dirk Salz puts the stimulus of the surface and the depth effect, or respectively, reflection and transparency, in a productive relationship of tension, he initiates our gaze as a process of experience. His works neither claim to reveal a view behind things nor do they content themselves with noncommittal play between forms and colors. Instead they awaken the eye’s joy at discovery. In looking at the works we can make sure that seeing is not merely a registering of existing facts, no mere accessing of information”. (Peter Lodermeyer) Dirk Salz was born 1962 in Bochum, Germany. He currently lives and works in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums such as: Galerie Peithner Lichtenfels, Vienna, Austria; Museum Katharinenhof, Kranenburg, Germany; Galerie Robert Drees, Hannover, Germany; Kunstraum 21, Bonn, Germany; Galerie Obrist, Essen, Germany; Galerie Roger Katwijk, Amsterdam, the Netherlands; DAT GmbH Stuttgart (Ostfildern), Germany; Four Square Fine Arts, London, UK; Lausberg Contemporary, Toronto, Canada; Museum Alte Post, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany.
