Caricaturas

The exhibition at the Wolfsonian – FIU, Miami, collects caricatures and portraits from the museum’s library, joined by the satyrical purpose and style. “Caricaturas“ opens in concurrence with Conrado Walter Massaguer‘s monographic exhibition “Cuban Caricature and Culture: The Art of Massaguer“, and gathers drawings by his contemporaries from Mexico and Cuba. Here the caricatural genre played a central role in the early and mid-20th century, satirising or increasing the popularity of celebrities and politicians.
The display includes portraits of prominent characters such as President Eisenhower, Queen Elizabeth II, Fulgencio Batista, Fidel Castro, Adolf Hitler, George Bernard Shaw, Sarah Bernhardt, and many more.
