Marc Baptiste: Haïti à La Mode

Haitian Heritage Museum in Miami aims to promote dialogues across borders, exhibiting artistic positions from the Diaspora, to investigate the influence of black contemporary artists’ works on society. “Haïti à La Mode” features works by the photographer Marc Baptiste, who has captured expressions of Haitian contemporary culture during his travels all over the country.

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Baptiste has earned an influential role in the global panorama, specialising in fashion and portrait photography. He has worked for international magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Esquire, and Rolling Stone to name a few. Baptiste has portrayed subjects from Top Celebrities including; Prince, Shakira, Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, George Luka, Cicely Tyson, Yoko Ono, Misty Copeland and Spike Lee, with his most memorable subjects Michelle and Barak Obama, and Carmen de Lavallade.
