Mika Rottenberg at the Bass

The Bass, 2100 Collins Avenue

Mika Rottenberg‘s (b. 1976, Buenos Aires, Argentina) works focus on exposing the mechanics of late-stage, global capitalism through absurd and poetic comparisons. Her solo show at the Bass presents a selection of works she created within the past two years: a work debuted at the 56th Venice Biennial (2015), “NoNoseKnows” (Artist Variant) (2015), a video and sculptural installation that combines fact and fiction, documenting a group of Chinese laborers who harvest pearls from oysters in ZhuJi, China; and “Cosmic Generator” a new variant of the artist’s recent commission for Skulptur Projekte Münster (opened June 2017).
