Nayda Collazo-Llorens‘s installation, titled Recorded instance plotted movement, continues the artist’s investigation of mapping, dislocation and navigation. The artist collected data from U.S. government archives, including maps, charts and other documents. She has manipulated and transformed these documents into intentionally obscure diagrams. In this way, Collazo-Llorens created a series of new works on paper, in which some of the original trajectories of satellites, hurricanes, UFO sightings and walked routes are still visible, forming abstract shapes or new ambiguous cartographies. The artist researches the way observers perceive and process information in the modern world, characterised by an overload of data.
The exhibition is on view at Windows at Walgreens, Miami Beach, open 24/7.
