Relational Undercurrents: Contemporary Art of the Caribbean Archipelago
Relational Undercurrents: Contemporary Art of the Caribbean Archipelago features twenty-first century artworks from islands throughout the Caribbean basin, divided into four thematic sections: “Conceptual Mappings”, “Perpetual Horizons”, “Landscape Ecologies” and “Representational Acts”. The featured artists work across a wide range of media, such as painting, installation art, sculpture, photography, video, and performance pieces, collected together to highlight the cultural threads that connect Caribbean countries, defying its insulated and fragmented geography.
The exhibition was organised by the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, as part of The Getty Foundation’s “Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA”, an initiative examining the artistic legacy of Latin America and U.S. Latinos through a series of exhibitions and related programmes.
