Yayoi Kusama: All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins
One of Yayoi Kusama‘s signature “Infinity Mirror Rooms” is on view in Miami for the first time, as an off-site exhibition by the Institute of Contemporary Art – Miami.
“All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins” features a large array of Kusama’s characteristic yellow pumpkins covered in dark spots, grouped in a room with mirrored walls and LED lights. Developed from the seminal smaller installation “Mirror Room (Pumpkin)” (1991), the setting addresses several motives dear to the artist, such as the sublime, the infinity, repetition and the symbol of the pumpkin.
Set up in Miami Design District, the installation perfectly highlights Kusama’s approach to large-scale interventions involving viewers in an immersive environment which makes them an active part of the artwork.
