This event series is dedicated to the 10 year anniversary of Fondazione Franco Albini, which was founded in 2007 as a cultural pole open to the public, not only to disclose the archives of the famous architect and designer Franco Albini, but to point the timelessness of his designs and mindset.
To celebrate their birthday, the Fondazione is organizing special events within a period of 10 months, from January to October 2017, which are accompanied by the production of publications. Paola Albini, Vice President of the Fondazione, points out the aim of these events being to visualize the tug-of-war between the precariousness of current fashion cycles and the resistance of culturally important designs, in order to learn from and recover a sustainable way of thinking within architecture and design.
In the past 10 years, the activities of Fondazione Franco Albini have ranged from institutional (guided tours, certifications, research, publications, exhibitions, conferences) to more emotional (theatrical shows, laboratories, workshops, flashmobs, etc.), with the aim of involving the public in reflecting on historically relevant topics. Further, the archives of Franco Albini which have been declared as national historical heritage in 2002, have been reconditioned in order to reflect and learn from the past for contemporary and future projects.
With this series of celebrations, the Fondazione wants to come even closer to a wide audience by involving young students, children, creatives, Milanese institutions, and everyone who is interested in taking part.
