100 YEARS – Sculpture in Milan (1815-1915)

GAM Milano, Via Palestro, 16, Milan, Italy

The exhibition presents 100 works of great masters, ranging from late Neoclassicism to Symbolism, from 1815 to the end of World War I. Thereby, GAM is documenting the history of sculpture in Milan, presenting a selection of its great sculptural heritage, mostly preserved in the depository of the museum and therefore unknown to the public.

The exhibition is subsequently opening to a project titled “Sottosopra” (Upside Down), which is entirely dedicated to the restoring and preserving of the museum’s sculptures. The core of the project is the Restauration Atelier, located in the rooms of the repositories, where a team of professional restorers has been working on 70 sculptures, which are now on display in the exhibition.
