Alberto Orioli: Pre-testi

It is renewed the collaboration between Alberto Orioli and Galleria Antonia Jannone with a new exhibition and critical contribution of Emilio Isgrò.

“There were painters, who in the last hundred years have filled their pictures with words rather than color, probably verbal communication would not have a future. Instead it just attending biennials and art exhibitions to see that visual poetry lessons have been successful really without any difficulties. Today there is no artist who doesn’t feel need to include in their works vagabond comma, melancholy voices, possibly basic English sentences. Or, in more sophisticated cases, few verses of Hölderlin (for painters of German origin) or Pushkin (for authors from Siberia). It is the irresistible homesickness of human speech that the same writers are no longer able to meet in a society where the news are literally blended with the verb that carries them. But it can be the way to diversify, through languages, pictorial images (mostly digital ones) that look all the same at all latitudes”.
Emilio Isgrò

The exhibition features a selection of mixed media collages made from newspaper clippings from around the world with screws and small metal parts that give them a unique three-dimensionality.

“Pre-texts” becomes an opportunity to face the word that, meaningless, becomes pure visual pleasure and charm to search “mother tongue”, but also alibi to reason on the deep changes of information and language, in the digital transition.
