Aldo Mondino: Linoleum
The exhibition is dedicated to the linoleum paintings, the last and most provocative body of works by the artist Aldo Mondino (1938-2005).
These paintings are the result of the travels which Mondino made from the 1980s on almost without interruption, and which brought him in Morocco at first, and then to the rest of North Africa, Turkey, Spain, Israel and Palestine.
The paintings are extremely representative of the artist’s research, since they reunite all the main topics of Mondino’s work, such as irony, the tyranny by the icons of Western culture, the Orient and the religious symbols like rabbis and other elements of the Jewish tradition. His art convey a critical view towards the Eurocentric narratives which dominate the history of art and the logic of the mass tourism. The exhibition takes place in two different locations, at gallery Matteo Lampertico, in via Montebello, and Galleria Gracis, in piazza Castello 16, Milan.
On the occasion of miart 2019, the exhibition is exceptionally open on Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7, 2019 from 10am to 6pm.
