Alessandro Miotti: Innamorato / Furioso
In the exhibition “Innamorato / Furioso”, curated by Samuele Visentin, Venetian artist Alessandro Miotti explores desire within contemporary masculinity through two archetypal poles: the erotic—free and self-aware—and the repressed—aggressive and warlike. In the first sphere, the body appears relaxed and vital, capable of desire, of displaying itself, and of welcoming the gaze, suggesting a reconciliation with inner freedom. In the war paintings, by contrast, the same energy transforms into violence and control. The works do not present two separate states but reveal their continuity: when patriarchal culture represses vulnerability and desire, vital energy often shifts into aggression and domination within the masculine imaginary.
