Alighiero Boetti, Peter Fend: Territories

Le Case D’Arte presents the edition “Dodici Forme” by Alighiero Boetti (1967-71) and flags from Documenta (1992) by Peter Fend. For that occasion there will be also exposed four rare, large size, geographic, afghan carpets.

The work “Dodici forme dal 10 giugno 1967” (1971), is a set of twelve lithographies on a paper with the isolated outlines of occupied territories in the period 1967-1071- forms taken from the pages of the Turin newspaper La Stampa.
“Territori occupati” and “Dodici forme” testify to Boetti’s growing interest in geography, both as a form of organization and abstraction as well as source of real political conflict and cultural difference.

In the tradition of Constructivisme and Earth Art, Peter Fend propose a territory redistribution made only for cultural, political and historical reasons but essentially conceived with physical and ecological purposes. Around  oceanic basins or hydrological basins is recognized the valorisation and preservation of natural ressources.
The 5 flags shown at Documenta ’92 representing Germany, Europe, Asia, America and Southern Ocean are based on this concept.
