Antonio Dias: A collection
Via Tadino 15, Milan, Italy
The exhibitions shows works from 1968 to 1972, offering a precise and coherent insight into the artistic research of the young Dias. He used an extremely restricted pictorial-graphic code by which he investigated the nature of signs and categories of the imagination.
This unusual conceptual language is very difficult to understand, but was used by the artist to partly compensate the immediacy of words, according to Magritte’s principle: “In a picture, words have the same substance as images.” The works on display are characterized by graphic-style, black and white geometrics, designed to reduce the elements to their bare minimum.
