Armin Boehm: Solo Show
The colorful and densely structured artworks by the German artist are displayed in a solo show at Francesca Minini. His works are crowded with people and reference to crucial 19th century literature, picturing specific moments that seem timeless in their quintessence: private parties, scenes on the beach or in public bars stand beside a personal moments of seclusion. The alternate use between figurative and symbolic presentation reveals Boehm‘s expressionist approach, showing central topics such as alienation from oneself and others, as well as questioning oneself’s role within society. Boehm addresses these subjects with willful painterly means and deliberately placed materials. Combining pieces of fabric and paper with multiple layers of paint, he creates vivid situations with a distinctive corporeality that dissolves and reappears before our eyes.
