Between Chance and Necessity

The group exhibition “Between Chance and Necessity” focuses on the theme of chaos as expressed  in the renown book by the French biochemist Jacques Monod, gathering works by artists very different for their practice and the used media.

According to his point of view, art, cinema and literature are the proof of the existence of chaos: within these contexts, in fact, a number of alternative opportunities and events take place or are presented as possible and often unforeseen. The works on view are all joint by the artists’ ambivalent attitude that declares on one hand the necessity of form and composition and, on the other, the significant role of chance.
