Bosco Sodi: In Saecula Saeculorum

The solo show presents the Mexican artist’s richly textured and vividly colored large-scale paintings. His works show a tension between material exploration and artistic creativity, which creates a spiritual connection between the artist and his work. He uses different materials and textures to release emotions and thoughts – constantly contrasting the crudeness of resources and the lively within the intangible.

Most of his paintings are intendedly untitled, removing any predisposition or connection beyond the work’s immediate existence.

Sodi’s works shows impacts of the bright hues of his native heritage. Further, his artistic style ranges from l’art informel, being influenced by artists such as Antoni Tàpies and Jean Dubuffet, to master colorists such as Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko.
